Laura Shinkunas is the Research Specialist for the Program in Bioethics and Humanities at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She advances the Program’s mission by designing, planning, promoting, and conducting research-related activities as well as assisting in the coordination of educational activities. Laura has had the pleasure of working with individuals from various UI Colleges and other universities. The projects she has most recently been involved in have focused on goals of care and patients’ end of life treatment preferences, ethics education, managing incidental findings in genomic research, biobank consent models, multimedia informed consent, controversial issues in liver transplantation, and the ethics of infertility care. She is also currently responsible for the organization and management of two graduate-level ethics courses.
